Frosted window cling uses static electricity to stick to the window glass. Frosted window cling can be applied with and without water. We strongly advise you to use water, for permanent installation and / or especially large frosted window clings. Frosted window cling will only stick to the window glass with the backside, remove the transparant backing film before installation.
How to install the static printed frosted window cling (AR10)
Always read our extensive general instructions and tips and tricks first, go here.
- Remove the transparant backing film from the back of the frosted window cling before installation.
- Extensively clean the window, the window-frame and the surrounding area, including your work environment. Clean it of dust, dirt, flies, spiders. Watch out for your fingerprints on the window glass itself and on the back of the your frosted window cling. Clean your fingers!
- Make sure to not install your frosted window cling (AR10) in direct sunlight, make sure the temperature of the frosted window cling, the window itself and the surrounding air is -ideally- around 12 to 18 degrees Celsius. When the temperature is above 18 degrees we advise you to apply the window cling during the early mornings or after sundown. The higher the temperature, above 18 degree Celsius, the more difficult the installation becomes.
- Use 2 or more people when installing your frosted window cling (AR10). One person holding the top/left of the frosted window cling and one person holding the bottom/right to position the frosted window cling correctly on the glass.
- Keep pets away/locked-up.
How to install the frosted window cling yourself
- Always keep your frosted window cling flat so that is does not bend/fold/crease.
- Clean the window and window frame thoroughly. Remove paint, grease and other dirt. If any is left behind, it will be visible! Also clean the surrounding area and your work environment. If you are installing your frosted window cling near a ceiling and/or the ground make sure they are also clean. Also be wear of flying insects.
- Use your water spray bottle to apply a small mist of water onto the glass itself. You may also want to apply water to the window frame to counter dust/dirt. If droplets start running across the glass you have used too much water.
- For the frosted window cling (AR10) we suggest using two pieces of painters tape, one piece on the front of the frosted window cling and one piece on the transparent backing film, in order to easily remove the transparant backing film from the frosted window cling. The frosted window cling will only cling to the glass with one side, the flat/backside of the cling (the side that is exposed after removing the transparent backing film).
- Use 2 or more people for installation. Install the frosted window cling to the glass and position the cling at the preferred location. One person holds the top/left of the frosted window cling and the other person holds the bottom/right of the frosted window cling, to position the frosted window cling correctly.
- Start in the centre/middle of the frosted window cling and card, using your squeegee, towards the edge of the frosted window cling. Move with horizontal or vertical overlapping movements towards the edge of the frosted window cling, to remove all trapped air and water.
- Always pull the window cling outward, to make sure the frosted window cling is completely flat on the glass before carding over the window cling with your squeegee. Always start at the centre/hart of the cling. Repeat this to the opposite side of the window cling. Again starting in de middle/centre of the cling and working your way outward.
- Check to see if there is still any air trapped between the frosted window cling and the window glass itself. In the rare occasion that air is still trapped between the window cling and the window glass, gently push the air bubble to the edge of the frosted window cling (nearest part of the window not covered with window cling). Do NOT use force, or you may distort the shape of the frosted window cling.
- Remove the remaining water around the frosted window cling with a cloth/towel.
- Only clean the frosted window cling with a little water and a very mild soap using a soft cloth.
